Act
vs. Colet mining,
group urges Capitol
A group opposing the operation of Colet Mining in
southern Negros Occidental yesterday called on the provincial
government to act on their demand.
The group of Greg Ratin, secretary general of the
Defend Patrimony South Negros, met with Negros Occidental Board
Member Reynaldo Depasucat, chairman of the Sangunnian Committee
on Environment and Natural Resources, to air their position. Ratin
said Colet should not be allowed to operate because it will cause
more damage than what Philix and Maricalum mining had done to
Sipalay City.
He claimed that 10 hectares of farmlands have so
far been affected by the Colet exploration and water acidity has
risen and that will endanger fish life.
