A vintage photo collection exhibit of Bacolod's yesteryears opened
recently at Robinson's Place in Bacolod City in line with the National
Heritage Month celebration in May.
In Bacolod, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and
the Filipino Heritage Society spearheaded the closing celebration,
the third to be held in the city.
The photo exhibit featured the collections of Joe Lopez.
Also held was the "Aton Panubli-on Cultural Exhibit: Inside Ancestral
Homes of Negros" at Sea Breeze Hotel. The celebration was graced
by National Commission for Culture and the Arts chairman Ambeth
Ocampo, Undersecretary Edu Jarque of the Department of Tourism,
Gov. Joseph Maraņon and Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Other distinguished guests included Gloria Angara, Tony and Armita
Rufino, Melanie Villar, Carrisa Lebron and C.J. Moreno, among others.
Pictures of ancestral houses included that of Doņa Enrica Alunan
Lizares popularly known as Tana DiKang, Gen. Aniceto Lacson and
Don Simplicio Lizares, all in Talisay City; Don Mariano Ramos, Dr.
Mariano Yulo (Yulo's Park) in Bacolod, and the Montilla ancestral
house at Hda. Ubay, Pulupandan town.
Lia Javellana emceed at the program. Guests viewed the exhibit
during cocktails. Remember: "That every life has a purpose or we
wouldn't be here at all."*
