The body of a 60-year-old Filipino-American bearing multiple stab wounds was found at his residence in Purok Rosal, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City at about 7 a.m. yesterday.

Antonio Millarva Pathy, alias "Kano", whose business involved accepting pawned appliances and lending money, was found bathe in his own blood in his living room. Pathy was in his underwear when his body was found, Senior Insp. Jonathan Lorilla, Precinct 6 commander, yesterday told the DAILY STAR.

Lorilla said Pathy sustained an injury on his head believed to be hit with a hard object anZd multiple stab wounds on his chest.

The police also discovered the suspects, believed to be two to three persons, destroyed Pathy's wooden safety deposit box kept in his room and stole 30 cellular phones, an undetermined amount of cash and assorted jewelry, Lorilla said.

He said Pathy's neighbor told him he last saw the victim peeping through his gate at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, adding he heard the victim's doorbell rang, but he ignored it, thinking it was just one of his customers.

The neighbor said Pathy goes out on his motorcycle to collect money at the Bacolod Libertad Market every 3 p.m., but he did not see him yesterday.

The police recovered a hammer with bloodstains from Pathy's bed and several newspapers that were used to wipe his blood from the weapons used in the crime.

Also recovered from the crime scene was a pair of sunglasses believed owned by one of the suspects, police reports said.

Lorilla said the police are still investigating why Pathy's wife and children were not in the house when the gruesome incident occurred.

"Primarily, the suspects plan was to rob, so in order to materialize it, they neutralized Pathy," Lorilla said.

He said Precinct 6 and Bacolod Scene of the Crime Investigation policemen are working together identify and arrest the suspects.

Bacolod City medico-legal officer Eli Cong yesterday told the DAILY STAR that Pathy died of blood loss. The victim's injury in his forehead was caused by a hammer, while the three fatal stab wounds on his chest were caused by bladed weapons, Cong added.*DMG
