Solon eyeing inquiry
on cheating in Palaro
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

Rep. Monico Puentevella yesterday said he plans to file a resolution in Congress to conduct an inquiry on the age-cheating controversy that hounded the Palarong Pambansa in Naga City.

Puentevella, Philippine Olympic Committee first vice-president, told the DAILY STAR that he will look into the sufficiency of the supporting papers and footages that will be forwarded by the parents from the National Capital Region before filing a resolution next week. The inquiry will be a strong message to coaches and principals of the different schools and regions to make sure that their athletes are qualified not only in Palaro hostilities, but in all kinds of competitions, the Bacolod solon said.

Silverado maintains top ranking

Priming up for the tougher task ahead, Silverado ASSFBI sustained its sizzling run to stay on top of the 2006 Cebuana Lhuillier Open 4-Man Mixed Bowling Championship on Tuesday at the Goldenfields Commercial Complex Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

With one more game to play in the tournament, the Silverados headed by Edgar Allan del Rosario, are expected to clinch the twice-to-beat incentive after compiling a comfortable 12,285 pinfalls, 185 pins ahead over second-running Barangay I Triple C of Capt. Sammy Gaitan with 12,103.

Tough Trucks/NPBC of Jaime Chua and SR Bowlers of Steve Be came in third and fourth with 12,016, and 11,814.
