Engineers rule Capitol cage event

The Provincial Engineer's Office eked out a 62-60 victory over the Economic Enterprise and Development Department to grab the title of the 1st Provincial Alliance of Capitol Employees Basketball Cup at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center in Bacolod City recently.

In the game that had 12 lead changes and seven deadlocks, Eli Palacios shone for PEO as he spearheaded the offensive attack, pouring in 19 points, while Pax Rodriguez contributed 10 markers. Pacing EEDD in a losing effort was Martin Abellar after finishing with 12 points as Jude Garcia, who was named to the mythical five, chipped in 9 markers.

Also named to the mythical five were Most Valuable Players Marvin Balajadia of the Provincial Assessor's Office, PEO standouts Leo Espiritu and Ruben Diamante, and Edwin Sales of EEDD.

The sportsmanship award was given to Bong Fernandez of the Capitol Building Team, while General Services Office cager Niņo Magallanes became the best three-point shooter of the tournament.

PAO finished third in the event, while CBT, GSO and the Office of the Provincial Agriculture placed fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. *CIT
