SK chair cries 'unfair';
to seek DILG assistance
A Bacolod barangay official, who allegedly refused
to act as a witness in a drug raid in Brgy. 19 recently, yesterday
claimed she was unfairly treated by the police.
Barangay 19 Sangguniang Kabataan chairwoman Ma.
Corazon Dolorico told Aksyon-Radyo Bacolod, the charges set to be
filed by the Bacolod City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task
Group against her and two other barangay kagawads are "unjust and
not fair".
Dolorico said she decided not to sign as witness
in the drug raid because she did not personally see the sachets
of suspected shabu and cash recovered by the police from the house
of Liezel Garcia.
All she saw were nine live bullets for a 9-mm
caliber pistol confiscated by a drug operative in a cabinet where
Tupperware items were kept, she said.
She said she accompanied one of the police officers
to the second floor of the house. When they returned to the living
room, Dolorico said that was when she saw sachets of suspected shabu
and money on the table, which were allegedly dug up from the garden.
"How could I sign as witness without seeing the
items reportedly recovered by the police in the area personally?"
Dolorico asked.
She said she will go to the office of the Department
of Interior and Local Governments to seek assistance on how to defend
herself.
Meanwhile, Brgy. 19 Captain Yuri Yanson told the
DAILY STAR he called the attention of barangay kagawads James Uberas,
Fred Depasu-ay and Dolorico yesterday, who all claimed they were
discontented with the conduct of the raid by Bacolod anti-drug operatives.
Yanson said his barangay officials know their
duties and it is up to them to face whatever charges are filed against
them.
Meanwhile, SPO1 Nelson Grijaldo, CAIDSOTG team
leader, yesterday said they will file charges for violation of Section
1, paragraph B of Presidential Decree 1892 against Dolorico, Uberas,
and Depasu-ay before the Office of the Ombudsman today.*DMG
