6 divers nabbed
BY RENE GENOVE

The Dauin town government fined three Japanese and three Filipino scuba divers for diving without permits off the coast of Brgy. Maayong Tubig recently.

Arrested were Japanese nationals Sanae Takechi, 27; Rei Takanage, 37, and Natsuleo Joko, 37, all single and their Filipino companions from Brgy. Bantayan, Dumaguete City -- Rodel Torres, 26; Leoven Magno, 25, and a minor, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR.

Their arrest came after police received an intelligence report about their illegal activity in the area. After coordinating with the Bantay Dagat, SPO3 Joel Alcala and SPO3 Marcial Dingal went to the site and caught the divers.

Police confiscated six dive tanks, six BCDS, six pairs of fins, and an underwater video camera from the suspects who, however, were later released.*RG
