Bacong village chief
hacked by neighbor
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The village chief of Malabago, in Bacong town, Oriental Negros was hacked twice Tuesday allegedly by his neighbor whose wife he had impregnated and whom he has an 8-year-old child.

Malabago Barangay Captain Nestor Alabastro sustained two hack wounds in the face and shoulder inflicted by the suspect, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR.

The suspect, who showed no sign of remorse, said he is aware that the 8-year-old girl is not his because he is sterile.

But lately he said he got irked when the issue has become the subject of gossip in their neighborhood.

The husband, however, said he had no intention of killing Alabastro, all that he wanted was for the barangay captain to realize how sad and degraded he was about what happened to his wife.

Meanwhile, the Bacong police arrested two minors and three youths in the act of sniffing rugby.

The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 37 Judge Lualhati Bustamante. They were identified as Christian Asenas, 19; Marken Deleņa, 20; a certain Jimmy, 19, and two minors aged 17 and 15 years.

The five said they are using rugby to relieve them from hunger.

Inspector Edwin Tuble, town police chief, said the suspects are considered as recidivists because they have been apprehended a number of times for the same offense.*JG
