Investors sought for
R&D-based products, services

The Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development is developing business plans for technologies developed by the science community in an effort to translate R&D results to commercially useful products, processes, and services, the Department of Science and Technology said in a press release.

Dubbed as the Technology Commercialization Plans or TCPs, the initiative follows the aim of DOST to transfer its technologies to investors and also to provide a guidebook for entrepreneurs.

The TCPs are made up of business plan and feasibility study that cover marketability of technology-based products, raw materials, manufacturing, and supply and distribution structures. These also cover SWOT analysis, organizational structure for commercialization process, legal requirements, sources of financing, and a marketing plan.

The feasibility study section contains analysis of relevant market, competition, industry forecast, production, marketing, organizational, and financial plans.

DOST said that the drafting of the TCP has assistance from various private consultancy groups.

It said that PCIERD will soon release seven TCPs on technologies such as ethnic food mixes, enriched rice premix, compressed natural gas components, cashew nut shell liquid, shop-fabricated houses, natural dye, and tropical fabric, the press release added.*
