Japan dance group sets CCP show
The Japan Foundation Manila and the Cultural Center of the Philippines will present
Japan's all-male contemporary dance group "Condors" in a show called "Conquest
of the Galaxy: Jupiter" set June 23, at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo at the
CCP. The presentatioin will be an outrageous and anarchic
romp fusing movements, funny film clips and comical stage antics of seemingly
young and untrained Japanese dancers, a press release from the Japan Foundation
said. Founded in 1996, all of Condors' members have peculiar
body presence and unique character, all dressed in "Gakuran" or a Japanese typical
black school uniform on stage. In March 1999, they performed
at the Tokyo Panasonic Globe and since then, they have toured across Japan, the
United States and Asia, the press release said. Its director,
Ryohei Kondo, was also introduced as "the most promising choreographer for the
21st century." Inquiries on the show may be made by calling
the Japan Foundation at Tel. Nos. 811-6155 to 58 or visit its website www.jfmo.org.ph,
