The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines, with the Charter Change Advocacy Commission, is holding a series of orientation-cum-trainings and consultations on Charter change in Siquijor and Oriental Negros today.

Local Governments Undersecretary Wencelito Andanar, in a memorandum circular dated April 27, said expected to attend the orientation are elective and appointive officials, component city and municipal mayors, as well as their respective Liga ng mga Barangay Federation presidents. In Oriental Negros, the consultation will be held at the Bethel Guest House in Dumaguete City.

Also enjoined to take part are members of the city or town Sanggunians, all punong barangays and secretaries, including civic and religious groups such as Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, Knights of Rizal, born-again Christians, Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Lions, Rotary and Jaycee clubs and Couples for Christ, among others.

PhilHealth warns hospitals
on fraud, misrepresentation

Hospitals found to be misrepresenting or giving incorrect information to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation for purposes of claiming reimbursements, maybe closed down, as provided for by law.

This d eveloped as the Philhealth Central Office has filed a complaint against the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital and the Bindoy District Hospital, for extending the period of confinement and misrepresentation by furnishing false or incorrect information about a patient in 2003.

Records show that the patient, Aquilino Estaņo Sr. was admitted at the Bindoy District Hospital from Oct. 18-20, 2003 and at the NOPH from October 15-25, 2003.

favors assembly

Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative II general manager Ephraim Taclob is amenable to the suggestion of Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices to hold a special assembly specifically to tackle the loan offered by the provincial government to NORECO.

Taclob expressed surprise about the junking of the interest-free loan offer, which was intended to upgrade the electrical system in Dumaguete.

He said the decision to hold a special assembly in rests on the hands of the Board of Directors.
