An 88-mm mortar bomb was found reportedly by a security guard
in a delivery truck loaded with scrap iron at the Tinguan Trading
Corp., in the Bacolod reclamation area at about 9 p.m. yesterday.
Security guard Jorge Johnnery of the Regent Security Agency
told the police that he found the bomb in the truck that came from
La Libertad, Negros Oriental, police reports said.
Bacolod police Terrano patrols 101 and 110 manned by PO2 Gilberto
Pineda, PO1s Jerome Javier and Domingo Villar, respectively, went
to the area and recovered the bomb containing trinitrotoluene or
TNT, police reports said.
The bomb was endorsed to Chief Insp. Armando Tubongbanua,
chief of the Bacolod City Mobile Group for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, Tubongbanua yesterday asked the public to be vigilant
to avoid being victimized by "rab-rab girls", or those women who
slash the bags of their would-be victims with use of razor blades,
among others, and take their valuables.
The San Carlos police recently arrested Rosalie Ledesma Dequina
and Gina Sellado Rondes who were identified as members of the "rab-rab
girls", who were also identified as those operating in several areas
of Bacolod City in the last two months, Tubongbanua said.
He said the "rab-rab girls" had been monitored to be responsible
for the series of thefts in downtown Bacolod for several years now.
Tubongbanua said he is encouraging those who have been victimized
by Rondes and Dequina to file criminal complaint against the two
suspects, who are now detained in the lock-up cell of San Carlos
PNP, for theft.*DMG
