The Supreme Court yesterday announced that it will release the
results of the 2005 bar examinations today.
The results will show who among the 5,758 law graduates who
took last September's exams will be the country's new lawyers. The
number of examinees registered a record high in the 100-year-old
plus bar examinations, a SC press release said yesterday.
The 2005 bar examination also mark the first time that the
'five-strike' rule is being implemented. This rule limits to five
the maximum number of times a candidate may take what is reputed
to be the most grueling government-administered test, it said.
Justice Romeo Callejo Sr., Chairman of the Committee on the
2005 Bar Examinations, said the list will be displayed in wide-screen
monitors to be strategically placed at the Supreme Court front yard
near its Padre Faura entrance. The results can be viewed simultaneously
at www.supremecourt.gov.ph, the official website of the High Court.
Bar Matter No. 1161 provides for the "(d)isqualification of a
candidate after failing in three examinations, provided, that he
may take a fourth and fifth examination if he successfully completes
a one year refresher course for each examination; provided, further
that upon the effectivity of this Resolution, those who have already
failed in five or more bar examinations shall be allowed to take
only one more bar examination after completing a one year refresher
course."*
