Sipalay City in Negros Occidental received its award
as grand winner in the nationwide "Hiyas ng Turismo" search for
new and undiscovered tourist destinations, sponsored by the "Women
in Travel-Manila," in cooperation with the Department of Tourism,
at the Sampaguita Ballroom, Hyatt Regency, in Pasay City, Tuesday
night, a press release from the Sipalay government said yesterday.
The award was received by Sipalay tourism operation
officer Kristin Mansinares.
The Sipalay government received P100,000 cash
prize from the Philippine Gaming Corporation, a round trip plane
tickets for two from Manila to Singapore sponsored by the Philippine
Airlines, and a share from the P5-million fund on tourism promotions
of Senator Richard Gordon, chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism,
the press release said.
The other three major winners are the Bugang River
in Antique; Cavinti Twin Falls in Laguna; and the Sibang Cove in
Cagayan Valley.*

Class
to hold concert party
A musical concert called "Another Place … Another
Time.." will be held by the La Salle High School Class '83 of Bacolod
Inc., at 9 p.m., tomorrow, at the Atrium of Lopue's Mandalagan Extension,
in Bacolod, a press release from the batch said.
The concert will feature songs of the 70s to
the 90s, including the latest music craze to be played by local
band, Undertow, and a party in cooperation with Xtension Bar, it
also said.
The event is a fund-raising project of the batch
in preparation for its 25th Silver Jubilee Grand Alumni Homecoming
in December 2007.
Proceeds of the concert will go to the University
of St. La Salle Association Inc., and the outreach programs of the
class, the press release added.*

Group exhibit, art workshop set
A group exhibit called "Reflective Expressions" to
be presented by the Silay United Group of Artists, will open at
5 p.m., April 7, and run until May 6, at the Phinma II Gallery of
the Negros Museum, in Bacolod City, a press release from the Negros
Museum-Negros Cultural Foundation Inc., said yesterday.
The exhibit in water color, oil painting, pencil,
pen and ink, and wire works is a collective work of six members
of SUGA who have been active in showcasing their works since 1999,
the press release said.
They are Roland and Reynan Dayon, Ian and Vernon
Valladarez, Bennyhill Gohing and Edsie Sazon, it also said.
Meanwhile, the Negros Museum will hold the 9th
Summer Arts Workshop for children, teenagers and young adults, from
9 to 11:30 a.m., Mondays through Fridays, April 17 to 28, and May
8 to 19, a press release from the Negros Museum also said.
Courses offered are the Basic Visual Arts Workshop
that will cover introduction to drawing, pastel drawing, water color
painting, acrylic painting, and clay sculpture; and the Advance
Workshops on Cartooning, Acrylic/Oil Painting and Sculpting/Terra
Cotta, the press release said.
