BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

Lopue's Tabe Tennis Association standouts Mark Francis Jimenez and Marell Lagunday will see action in the 2nd Dr. Tirzo O. De Los Reyes Sr. Memorial National Table Tennis Tournament from April 28 to May 1 at the Albay Astrodome in Bicol.

Jimenez will defend his championship in the men's singles open division, while Lagunday will compete in the women's singles open category, where she finished second last year.

Jimenez, who coaches at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, will also vie for the crown in the team play open with former national squad member Henberd Ortalla and Celjun Ortalla.

LOPTTA, headed by its president Leonito "Diotay" Lopue, is coming off from a successful bid in a national tournament in Davao City recently as Jimenez took the class A singles open title, while Lagunday reigned supreme in the class B singles open play.

Lagunday and Jimenez as well as LOPTTA paddler Johnard Baldonado also brought home the team championship in Davao.

The team winner in the Bicol-based tournament will receive P20,000, while the second and third placers will be given P10,000 and P5,000, respectively. The champion, first runner-up and second runner-up in the men and women's competitions will be handed P10,000, P7,000 and P5,000 respectively.

Aside from the team, men's singles and women's singles hostilities, competitions in the 16-Under singles boys and girls' will also be staged during the tournament. *CIT
