Rural banks to hold
2-day confab in city

The Rural Banks Association of the Philippines will hold its 2006 Visayas Management Conference on March 30 and 31 at the L' Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City.

Gilda Pico, acting president of the Land Bank of the Philippines, will be the keynote speaker.

Other speakers in the two-day event themed "Rural Banks: Unity in Diversity" are RBAP president William Hotchkiss and RBAP director for Region 6 Jesus Campos Jr.

On Day 1, Ricardo Mercado, professorial lecturer at the John Gokongwei School of Management, Ateneo de Manila University, will talk on "Professionalized Management in Family Business." He will be joined by resource persons Victor Hernandez, AVP of Small Business Corp.; Harald Neimeier, senior advisor of SMEDSEP; John Owens, chief of party, RBAP-MABS; Ma. Cecilia del Castillo, president of Dungganon Bank Inc.; and Jose Michael Camello, director of Philippine Business for Social Progress Inc.

An interaction with different government agencies will take place on Day 2. Panelists include Caesar Dalman, deputy director of BSP Supervision and Examination Department; Rolando Alejandro Agustin, director of BSP Department of Loans and Credit; Cristine Remollo, FVP-Legal Services Group, Philippine Depositi Insurance Corp., Merly Cunanan, head of Securities and Exchange Commission, Cebu City; Russell Ildessa, director of SEC; and Corazon Guerrero, managing director of BSP Supervision and Examination Section.*
