A 3-year-old boy from Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental
suffering from difficulty in breathing and now confined at the Corazon
Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, needs
the help of kindhearted DAILY STAR readers for his medication.
A certification by Dr. Debby Dagu-ob-Pampliega,
Pediatric resident-in-charge at the CLMMRH, shows that the patient,
Jun Jun Naman, 3, has suffered from bronchial asthma since he was
2 years old but he has not taken maintenance medication.
Jun Jun is the son of Jesus Naman and Jona Castillo.
Records further revealed that the boy was apparently
well until the night before his confinement on March 14, for having
nasal catarrh and difficulty in breathing. He was then brought to
a Lying-in Clinic where nebulization was done but did not afford
relief.
Any help for Jun Jun may be coursed through the DAILY
STAR office.*GCT

amputees to avail
of free artificial legs
Thirty-nine indigent amputees availed of artificial
limbs for free under the "Project Prosthesis" program conducted
by the Tzu Chi Foundation Inc. - Zamboanga Medical Mission Team
and Tzu Chi Great Love Rehabilitation Center, Saturday at the lobby
of Kundutel, Goldenfield Commercial Complex, in Bacolod City.
Chairman emeritus Carlos Javellana of the Federation
of Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. and Negros
Occidental Fil-Chinese Amity Club Association, said the activity
is sponsored by the Southern Negros Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commerce
and Industry Inc. headed by Adolfo Lim; Northern Negros Fil-Chinese
Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. led by Lorenzo Cordova; and
Negros Se Ho Lim Association Inc. chaired by Albert R.T. Lim.
Dr. Raymond Sator, head of the TCGLRC Volunteers
Organization, said the artificial legs will be installed on the
patients on May 20, when they return to the city. The team will
also conduct a round of consultation services in Cebu and other
provinces, he said, adding that the artificial legs will be made
of high grade PVC pipe and rubber for foot mechanism.
Lim said they are thanking the generosity of
the Tzu Chi Foundation medical mission.
Robert Adriano, SNFCCI vice president, added
that that love in the hearts of the volunteers made the undertaking
a success.
Rex Gumban, 38, of Tobosso, Negros Occidental,
who lost his right leg in a road accident six years ago said, he
was hopeless but hope shone again when the foundation came to the
rescue.
Cecil Porrenas, 18, of Tuyom, Cauayan said the
world seemed too dark for her, and she considered herself a living
dead, until a barangay worker facilitated her inclusion in the SNFCCI
list of recipients.
Also present at the activity were Ronaldo Chua of
SNFCCI; Nelson Ng; NNFCCCI vice president Reynaldo Espina, Manuel
Po Suy Bing, Jaime Liu, Guillermo Co, and Vicente Ting.*HLG
