The Professional Regulation Commission yesterday announced the
schedule for the oral assessment of West Negros College graduates
who passed the December nursing board examination.
Concerned examinees are advised to bring their transcript
of records, OR/DR cases and other pertinent papers or documents.
Those found to have complied with the requirements can take the
oath and register immediately, a PRC press statement said yesterday.
The PRC this week reached an agreement with various congressmen
from Western Visayas to address controversy involving the WNC examinees,
whose examination results it had earlier withheld for alleged course
overloading.
The PRC early this month finally announced that 476 WNC examinees
passed but filed charges against them for course overloading and
said they would not be allowed to get their licenses as nurses until
their hearings are concluded, prompting several WV solons to put
pressure on the PRC at its House budget hearings.
Most of the examinees come from Aklan, Antique, Bacolod City,
Guimaras, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Bohol, Cebu, and Negros Oriental,
the PRC said.
"In a dialog arranged by the Office of the House Speaker,
PRC officials were given the opportunity to clarify issues and respond
to the school's and examinees' position after repeated stand-offs
with the Congressmen of said provinces in several Congressional
committee hearings," a PRC press statement said yesterday.
The PRC said it assured members of congress of the expeditious
and just resolution of the issues being threshed out by the Board
of Nursing, and on Thursday began an oral assessment of the examinees.
The oral assessment will be conducted at the PRC Central Office
- March 23, 24, 26 and 29; Bays Center, Bacolod City, for those
with family names that start with A to H - March 28 and L to Z -
March 29; PRC Iloilo Regional Office for those with family names
that start with A to H - March 27, L to P - March 28 and Q to Z
March 29, the PRC statement said.*
