Cops seize coco lumber

The Bayawan City police confiscated recently 1,600 board feet of coconut lumber and the cargo truck hauling it, for failure of the driver to present a transport permit for them.

The Fuso truck was passing along Brgy. Villareal, Bayawan City when the police mobile checkpoint flagged it down and inspected the cargo.

The truck driver, Mamerto Ortiz, 40, of Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte, failed to present a permit to transport the cargo

. Further investigation revealed that the truck was registered in the name of Hadji Rashid Macasimbar, of Mabini Street, Brgy. Barra, Dipolog City.

The driver said the hewn lumber was transported from Ozamis City to Dumaguete City and was to be delivered to Bayawan City for the renovation of the Bayawan National High School.
