Alumnae homecoming
set in Hinigaran

Graduates of the Madeleine Academy/La Consolacion School in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, are invited to their annual general homecoming, April 22, a press release from the sponsoring Batch '81, led by Pheny Pandan-Doronila, said.

Registration will start at 9 a.m., to be followed by the Mass at 10 a.m., it also said.

The sponsoring class, which is celebrating its Silver Anniversary, has planned colorful activities for all alumnae and their families, the press release added.*

Medical equipment
turned over in Sipalay

The new medical emergency equipment acquired by the city of Sipalay, in Negros Occidental, were turned over by city officials to the city health office, recently, a Sipalay government press release said.

Mayor Oscar Montilla, Councilors Fred Fernandez and Hitcliff Lirazan, turned over to Dr. Noel Villanueva of the Sipalay City Health Department one unit suction machine, a set of defibrillator with cardiac and pulse monitor and electrocardiogram, and an intubation set, it also said.

Sipalay, located about 170 kilometers away from Bacolod City, is a member of the South Negros Inter-Local Health Zone of Negros Occidental, refers patients to the nearest catchment hospital in Kabankalan City, and, for extreme emergency cases, to Bacolod, the press release said. The new equipment will be used to augment the facilities at the city health station, and will benefit local residents and foreign tourists during emergency cases, the press release added.*

PTB patient needs help

An 8-year-old boy from Hda. Patlagan, Brgy. Purisima, Manapla town, in Negros Occidental, who was diagnosed to have far advanced tuberculosis and pneumonia at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, is seeking the help of DAILY STAR readers.

Jason Gaudan, 8, the third of five children of Geronimo and Sonia Gaudan, was admitted at the CLMMRH on March 10 due to difficulty in breathing, medical records showed.

One month before his confinement, the patient had suffered from cough with phlegm associated with low-grade fever every afternoon, records added.

His parents said Jason needs to undergo medication but they can't afford the medicines.

Geronimo, who is also suffering from PTB, is a jobless while Sonia works in the farm to sustain the daily needs of the family. Any help for the boy may be coursed through the DAILY STAR office.*GCT

OPA holds
ESK graduation

Negros Occidental farmers taking the "Eskwelahan sa Kahanginan" program of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist held their graduation rites yesterday on the theme "Endeavoring Together for Corn Sufficiency in Negros Occidental," at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Gym, a Capitol press release said.

The radio program, sponsored by the Negros Occidental government under Gov. Joseph Maraņon, started in August last year and was aired over five local radio stations in Bacolod City. It is anchored by Edna Garde, the press release said.

The top 10 graduates were recognized and given prizes and awards. The top three were Reynaldo Espaņola and Imelda Espaņola of Isabela, and Jemuel Dulla of Cauayan, the press release said.

Present at the rites were provincial agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan, Board Member Adolfo Mangao, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan committee on agriculture, and Sofronio Parohinog of the Department of Agriculture regional office, the press release added.*
