reign in Davao
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

The Lopue's Table Tennis Association swept the three crowns at stake in the 1st Smash Ville Cup National Open Table Tennis Tournament at the Smash Ville Fitness Center in Davao City recently.

The LOPTTA team, headed by its president Leonito "Diotay" Lopue, composed of Johnard Baldonado, Marell Lagunday and Mark Francis Jimenez defeated the Tongas Military Supply-Cagayan de Oro squad in the championship showdown to bag the team title.

TMS-CDO was comprised of Dario Hernane, Joseph Amba and Allan Neri, while the BRIYAKE squad of Davao City composed of Brian Plazos, Malcolm Latour and Zoren Patrick Mendiola placed second runner-up in the team competitions.

Jimenez followed up the victorious team campaign of LOPTTA in the team play by bringing home the class A singles open title at the expense of teammate Baldonado.

Neri and Japheth Adaza of Dapitan shared the third place honors of the class A division in the national event.

In the class B singles open play, Lagunday, the lone female player in the category, dominated the field as she snared the championship. Sultan Kudarat Table Tennis Club standouts Gabby Villan and Rey Ogatis finished second and third, respectively. *CIT
