The University of St. La Salle Varsity Sports Office will begin its tryouts for the men and women's athletics squads on March 27 at the USLS Track Oval in Bacolod. Athletics coaches Inocentes Maquino Jr., Sulpicio Fuene and Marife Guili will handle the tryouts that will end on April 28 from 4-6 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Caging aspirants will try their luck to be members of the USLS men's basketball team under Troy Sarabia and Leo Casinillo on April 3-7 from 7- 8:30 a.m., Monday to Friday at the USLS College Covered Court. The La Salle men and women's football squads of Freddie Lazarito, Ronnie Tornilla and Ramon Janeo will hold their tryouts from 3-6 p.m., Monday to Friday, on April 17-21 at the USLS pitch. Men and women's chess mentor Irving Occeña will conduct a tryout from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 22 at the USLS Cafeteria, while the lawn tennis aspirants will have a crack of becoming a part of the men and women's teams of Reynaldo Alipala from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 10 at the USLS Lawn Tennis Courts. The sepak takraw squad, mentored by Lilybeth Castor, will have its tryout on April 17-28 from 3:30-5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, while men and women's volleyball coaches Roger Banzuela, Malot Lozada, Tito Java and Carl Steven Barredo will conduct their tryouts on April 24-29 from 8:30-11:30 a.m., Monday to Saturday. Both tryouts will be staged at the USLS College Covered Court. The men and women's swimming squads, coached by Annabelle Clamor and Jesusa Abanto, will have their tryouts from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on May 13 at the USLS Swimming Pool. Aspiring paddlers hope to make it to the men and women's table tennis teams of Vivica Ramos from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on March 23, 24, 30, 31, and April 6, 7, 20 and 21 at the USLS Covered Court dugout. Set at the USLS Covered Court bleachers area is the tryouts for the Ric Relon-mentored men and women's taekwondo squads on April 18, 20, 25 and 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interested athletes who wish to tryout for the different college varsity squads may contact the USLS-VSO at telephone numbers 434-6929 and 432-1185. *CIT |
