Panaad sportsfest

Seven disciplines will be played in the 2006 edition of the Panaad Sportsfest from April 24 to 29 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The competitors will gun for the championships in the chess, table tennis, taekwondo, swimming, athletics, boxing and the Manbukal team relay hostilities.

About 1,000 athletes from the different towns and cities of Negros Occidental are expected to see action in the event that will be held as part of the activities of the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2006.

Games in chess, table tennis and taekwondo will fire off on April 24, a day before the athletics competitors begin their quests for gold medals.

The swimming and boxing hostilities will take centerstage on April 26, while the Mambukal team relay will be played at the Mambukal Resort on April 28.

The chess competitions will be staged at 3rd floor of the sports complex, while the table tennis and taekwondo games will be showcased on the North and South wings, respectively, of the 2nd floor.

Athletics will be played at the track oval, while the swimming events will be held at the Olympic pool of the stadium. The boxing hostilities will be staged at the softball-baseball grounds.

Aside from the sportsfest, the Panaad celebration will also showcase other sporting events such as shooting, golf and derby competitions.

The Panaad Derby will be held from April 23-25 at the sports complex's covered court, while the Panaad Golf Competitions will be staged at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club on April 29-30 as well as the Panaad Shoot Fest.

The 2nd Negros Panaad National Age-Group Swim Fest is scheduled on April 28-29, while the Panaad Sports Competitions will be played from April 26-28.

Pop dance showdowns, festival dances, dancesports competitions and dog shows will also be showcased during the weeklong festival dubbed "Tatak Negros". *CIT
