Economist to keynote
SU graduation

Silliman University will hold its commencement exercises for its 800 graduates on March 26, at the Luce Auditorium with Menardo Jimenez Jr., senior vice president for the Retail Business Group/Media Strategic Communications of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. and officer-in-charge of Smart Communications Inc. Marketing and Sales, as speaker.

Jimenez holds an AB Economics degree from the University of the Philippines, where he made history as the UP's youngest commencement speaker.

He studied at the Asian Economic Systems and Japanese Management at Sophia University in Tokyo, on a Japan Airlines Scholarship.

He was a recipient of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World Award for Cultural Achievement from the Junior Chamber International in 1999, and the Ten Outstanding Young Men Award for Multi-Media Achievement from the Philippine Jaycees and TOYM Foundation in 1998.

In 2000, he received the Distinguished Evangelical Achievement Award from the Philippine Evangelical Churches for producing "Jose Rizal" and "Muro-Ami".

His socio-civic involvements include being the managing director of Conquest for Christ Foundation, and Founder and Convenor of Philippine Forum.

A contributing writer to the Philippine Star and Philippine Daily Inquirer, Jimenez is also the author of four Christian books: Conqueror Prayer Collection, Lessons from a Baby, and Coincidence or Miracle 1 and 2.*MG
