Don't sell your bonus,
guv urges employees
BY RENE GENOVE

Oriental Negros Gov. George Arnaiz appealed to all provincial government employees not to sell their bonus money and to use it for their families.

Arnaiz made the appeal Monday during the regular flag-raising ceremony in front of the Capitol as he announced that the employees would get their productivity and enrolment bonuses in May.

The governor said many workers tend to sell their bonus even it is released and then spend the money unwisely. The practice is to get a lesser amount in advance from someone who will get the full sum later.

The 1,500 workers of the provincial government are expected to receive P2,000 bonus each.

They are also scheduled to receive this week the government-mandated P1,000 monthly additional compensation representing the first quarter of the year, or P3,000 each for January to March. The Capitol allotted P9.9 million for the government-mandated compensation for January to June.

In Dumaguete City, City Hall has started releasing the workers' P1,000 additional monthly compensation for January and February, city administrator Dominador Dumalag, Jr. said.

Dumalag said the city government allocated P12,000 for each employee for the whole year.*
