'Not all trike drivers sell flesh'

Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices said he wants to clarify a publication that quoted him as saying that drivers also sell flesh at the Rizal Boulevard, in Dumaguete.

The mayor said only a few drivers seen in front of the Why Not disco at the boulevard, possibly arranging with pimps and allowing their tricycles to be used for a fee.

Perdices said that the more than 2,400 tricycle drivers, not even one percent could be doing that, based on the report of the anti-indecency board.

Because it was so sweeping and a blanket accusation, a group of tricycle drivers in Dumaguete had asked for an apology from the mayor or a clarification on the matter.*
