Six unidentified suspects robbed a cell shop just before closing
time
Tuesday night of P175,000 cash, P100,000 worth of cell cards,
and 12 assorted cellphones, and shot the security guard at Noblefranca
Street, in Dumaguete City.
The robbers barged into the Kent's Cellphone, Repair Parts
and Accessories owned and managed by Kent Lariosa, 35, and his wife
Chingky, 10 minutes before 8 p.m., frisked security guard Donald
Omoyon, and declared a robbery.
Omoyon said he tried to resist, prompting the suspects to
squeeze the trigger, hitting his back. He is now recuperating at
the Holy Child Hospital.
The other suspect took Omoyon's service .38 caliber revolver,
reports said.
The suspects fled on board three motorcycles, two black Honda
Waves and one Yamaha DT, towards the direction of Brgy. Tinago,
Dumaguete.
Recovered from the crime scene were an empty shell of .45
caliber pistol and a deformed slug. Dumaguete police chief, Supt.
Dionardo Carlos, said the robbery was obviously well planned. He
said he believes the store had been under surveillance, especially
because it also offers dollar-changing services.
Meanwhile, two suspects were invited to the police station
Tuesday night for questioning. One of them was positively identified
by a sales attendant.
The two were brought to the police station on board their
rented blue XRM Honda motorcycle.
They were identified as Dino Pecada, 19, single, of Barangay
Bagacay and George Locsin, 19, of Barangay Batinguel, Dumaguete.
Pecada and Locsin denied the accusations, and even pointed to smaller
boys in the vicinity to have witnessed the crime.
The city police had received information that the two were
selling cellphones and that they had a lot of money.
Carlos called on the citizens to immediately report the
presence of persons selling cell cards or cellphones at lower costs
for the early solution of the case.
The theft and robbery section is taking down the serial numbers
of the cellcards and cellphone units that were stolen from the cell
shop.*
