Oca backs Monte
son for Congress
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Former Bacolod Mayor Oscar Verdeflor yesterday said he is supporting Andy Montelibano who is running for congressman of Bacolod City against Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella in the 2007 elections.

Montelibano is the son of former Negros Occidental Governor and Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Montelibano Jr.

In an interview over Aksyon Radyo, Verdeflor claimed that Puentevella, upon knowing that Montelibano is running against him, sent a cake to his house Sunday, "Maybe it was a peace offering," he said.

Verdeflor who, earlier, said he will support former Mayor Luzviminda Valdez if the recall move she had filed against Mayor Evelio Leonardia prospers, announced yesterday that he is running against both of them in 2007.

He said he is sure of winning against Leonardia and Valdez.

Verdeflor also claimed that former Bacolod police director Senior Supt. Vicente Ponteras will be running as vice mayor of Leonardia, while Leonardia's brother, Cesar will be running as an independent councilor.*CGS
