Ayungon Mayor Edsel Enardecido said he will pursue his bangus fish cage project to provide additional livelihood to coastal residents of the municipality, in Oriental Negros.

The regional office of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has committed to support his project, the mayor said.

Enardecido also said that the government recognizes the need to promote food security by increasing fish production through the accelerated transfer of fishing technology and training of coastal fisher folks who are the direct participants in the proper management of marine water resources.

He had earlier asked for financial help from the BFAR to help build the project.
