New posts for Lacson,
Zayco, de Venecia says
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Rep. Jose Carlos Lacson (Neg. Occ., 3rd district) has been named chairman of the House Committee on Basic Education, while Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco is being eyed as deputy regional chairman or chairman of the Lakas CMD for Western Visayas, House Speaker Jose de Venecia said yesterday.

Lacson said he is also chairman of the House Committee on the Education on Special Persons.

Zayco had gone on leave from the Lakas CMD in the May 2004 elections when he supported the presidential bid of Fernando Poe Jr.

Zayco started his political career in 1996 as a member of the Lakas CMD and has never changed parties, so the vice governor said he might accept the position being offered him.

De Venecia said he is in consultation with Zayco on whether he will accept the post as chairman or regional chairman of the Lakas CMD. "I will ask him what is his preference," he said.*CPG
