2 killed in Pontevedra mishap
BY DONALYN GUERRERO

A tricycle driver and his passenger were killed when they reportedly collided with an L300 Hyundai jeepney at Crossing Lime, Brgy. 2, Pontevedra town in Negros Occidental at about 4:30 a.m. yesterday.

Dead on the spot was Ansing Gonzales, while tricycle driver Alfredo Cantila of Pontevedra town was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, hospital reports said.

Traffic investigator PO3 Edgar Salde of the Pontevedra police station told the DAILY STAR in a phone interview yesterday that the tricycle driven by Cantila was running from south to north of the national highway when it collided with the private jeepney reportedly driven by Rodney Euphemio. Also rushed to the CLMMRH were Euphemio and his passengers Mel Pisca and Denmark Abangan, Salde said.

He said the tricycle was a total wreck while the front portion of the jeepney was damaged. The vehicles are now in the custody of the Pontevedra police station, he added.

Reports said Cantila and Anting were on their way to Bacolod City to sell vegetables when the incident occurred.*DMG
