Momsie's big day
Guests came in their most colorful attire for the 93rd birthday
celebration of Tita Hermie "Momsie" Ramos Dizon, held at the Business
Inn Grand Ballroom, recently.
Msgr. Gigi Gaston officiated at the Mass, that was followed by
a slide presentation on the life of the celebrator.
Mouth-watering food was served for dinner. Guests included members
of the Ramos, Villanuea and Dizon clans and other relatives, and
Momsie's friends from the Peace Prayer Community and Damas de Caridad,
among others.
Rocky Puentevella and the witty 6-year-old Gabby Dizon Bitong
were the emcees, Chart Motus was program director, and the slides
were provided by Ramoncito Tano and Sheila Vergara.
A special dance number, "I Belong To You," from Momsie's household
garnered thunderous applause. So did the Hawaiian dance from the
Peace Fellowship.
The Dizon siblings Bro. Rolly, Rudy and Patching Sr. with Luz
Emmanuel, Suzette Bantug and Edgar Alunan sang "Always" and Bro.
Rolly got Momsie to join them. A parade of beautiful costumes was
then held and the judges Raymond Fuentes, Bamboo Tonogbanua and
Ludy Afable had a hard time deciding on the winners.
The results: Renaissance man of the night - Bro. Roly Dizon, most
chikadora - Joe Leonardia and Angie Echaus, most heavenly costume
- Glique Arceo, most elegant - Isabel Urra, sexiest costume - Marides
Yusay, most authentic - Tiboli Suzette Monozca and Sr. Luz Soriano,
and most colorful - Nisa Limjap.
With the energetic dance of all the "apos," it was really a night
dedicated to Momsie. All gathered to form a circle around the birthday
cake, and sang Happy Birthday.* Remember: "Appreciate the tremendous
value of having an understanding friend."
