Transport groups to protest
hike in mayor's permit fees
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Transport groups, particularly the different tricycle organizations in Dumaguete City, are poised to stage picket rallies and a transports strike if their demands are not met.

They said they are accepting the challenge of going to court by questioning City Ordinance No. 88 that raised their mayor's permit fee from P27 to P400, an increase of 1,900 percent.

The transport groups, along with the Kilusang Mayo Uno, launched yesterday the so-called "Piso-piso para sa TRO (Temporary Restraining Order)" or a declaratory relief, aside from questioning the city ordinance before the Oriental Negros Sanggunian.

VILLAR TO NORSU GRADS
Lead entrepreneur revolution

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Sen. Manny Villar enjoined about 1,300 graduates of the Negros Oriental State University to lead a "revolution" that is geared towards entrepreneurship.

Villar made the call at the 48th commencement exercises of NORSU Bajumpandan campus yesterday where he was guest of honor.

He said everybody wants to talk about EDSA 1, EDSA 2, the failed coup, but nobody wants to talk about a different kind of revolution, by starting a small business of their own. Villar admitted that it is hard to address graduation rites nowadays looking at the graduates to be among the long roster of unemployed individuals.

'LP intra-party factions
best resolved in court'
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The new party chairman of the Liberal Party of the Philippines said a resolution of the intra-party dispute between two LP factions will be best resolved before the courts and the Commission on Elections.

Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, chosen by the national political council as new party chairman, said he believes the election conducted by the other faction is illegal, contrary to the LP constitution, and therefore void.

Meanwhile, he said, "I'm open for Charter change, but the timing at this point is already suspect."
