NAVARRA SAYS
I'll tell JdeV no to Cha-cha
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra yesterday said that if House Speaker Jose de Venecia meets with him Monday he will tell him that he is against Charter Change at this time.

De Venecia is scheduled to arrive in Negros Monday and will take up moves toward Charter Change with mayors and barangay captains of Negros Occidental at the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City, Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco said earlier.

Zayco said that de Venecia's itinerary includes a meeting with Navarra, but the prelate yesterday said he has not been informed about it.

De Venecia is pushing for a shift to a parliamentary government and a unicameral parliament.

Navarra said he against a changing the Constitution through a Constituent Assembly composed of members of Congress.

Changing the Constitution now is prone to abuse, we cannot trust them, Navarra said.*CPG
