The Negros Occidental Football Association will hold two more
tournaments in its 2006 edition of the Kasibulan six to 12 years
old grassroots football program that kicked off in Sagay City yesterday.
NOFA, headed by Rep. Charlie Cojuangco of the 4th District,
will stage football competitions in Ilog City today, before hosting
another leg in Himamaylan City on March 25.
Aside from NOFA, the Philippine Football Federation and local
governments of Ilog and Himamaylan are also assisting to successfully
stage the project that is expected to draw 350 booters from the
different elementary schools, NOFA general-secretary Warren Concepcion
said.
The six to eight-year old participants will vie for the crown
in the 4-on-4 without a goalkeeper division, while the nine to 10
and 11 to 12-year old competitors will joust for the championships
in the 5-on-5 and 7-on-7 with goalie categories, respectively.
The Sagaynons also saw action in the same divisions yesterday
as part of their 10th Sinigayan Festival, Concepcion, who spearheads
the activities of NOFA in the southern part of Negros, said. He
said that the Kasibulan program aims to develop the skills of football
aspirants in the different towns and cities in Negros Occidental.
