Student falls off mini
bus in Bago, dies
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

A college student was killed when he fell from a moving mini-bus in Purok Piaya, Barangay Lagasan, Bago City at around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Dead on the spot was Christian Christopher Norbe, 20, single, a resident of Purok Mabuhay, Brgy. Ma-ao. He was hit by the Roadstar mini-bus that he was riding on his way home, police reports said.

Norbe, a third year Criminology major at the Bago City College, suffered extensive injuries to the head and body that caused his immediate death, police reports added.

Norbe, who was seated in the front seat of the mini-bus, fell off when the driver of the vehicle, Samuel Billones, tried to elude a parked Isuzu cargo truck that did not have a warning device, police reports said. Billones, 35, a resident of Brgy. Ma-ao, is now detained at the Bago City Jail.

Billones said the accident would have not happened if the cargo truck that was full of sugarcane had a warning device. He said he did his best to avoid the truck because more people would have been killed if he had collided with the truck head-on.

Aside from Norbe, four persons were also injured during the accident, police reports said. *CIT
