Three championships are up for grabs in the Sagay Kasibulan Football
Tournament that starts at 8 a.m. today at the Sagay National High
School in Sagay City.
The booters from the different elementary schools in Sagay
will be battling for the crowns in the 4-on-4 without a goalkeeper,
5-on-5 with a goalie and 7-on-7 with a goalkeeper divisions.
About 300 booters are expected to participate in the event
that is organized by the Philippine Football Federation in cooperation
with the Negros Occidental Football Association and the Sagay City
local government, NOFA deputy general-secretary Warren Concepcion
said.
Kasibulan is a grassroots football program of the NOFA that
is being implemented in the different towns and cities in Negros
Occidental to develop the skills of football aspirants, he said.
Concepcion spearheads the activities of NOFA in the southern part
of Negros, while John Carmona is in-charge of the NOFA-organized
tournaments in the northern area of Negros.
The Kasibulan event is also a part of the activities lined
up in the 10th Sinigayan Festival, which also includes takewondo,
drag race, chess, trisikad race, basketball, motocross, mountain
bike and BMX races, tug-of-war, billiards and shooting competitions.
Meanwhile, NOFA also had a meeting with the San Carlos Football
Club to discuss the developments regarding the FC's hosting of the
PFF Under-17 Ladies' National Football Championships from May 7
to 12 in San Carlos City.
A tryout will be conducted by NOFA on April 8 to form a ladies'
team that will banner Negros in the national tournament, Concepcion
said.
Lady booters from FC de Pontevedra, Ma-ao United FC, University
of St. La Salle, San Carlos City FC and Talisay City FC will try
out for inclusion in the NOFA roster, he said. *CIT
