Army 303rd IB has new head
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Negros island has a new military commander.

Army chief Hermogenes Esperon has named Col. Jerry Jalandoni of Bago City as the incoming commanding officer of the 303rd Infantry Brigade.

Jalandoni is not a stranger to Negrenses, as he had been assigned in northern and central Negros as executive officer of the 78th Infantry Battalion, and later as commanding officer of the 61st Infantry Battalion in the early 1990s, military records show. Col. Bonifacio de Castro, officer-in-charge of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, said Jalandoni will replace Brig. Gen. Jogy Leo Fojas who has already completed his tour of duty in Negros.

Fojas is now assigned at Camp Aguinaldo in Metro Manila as the deputy of Maj. Gen. Pedro Ramboanga, AFP deputy chief of staff for Operations.

Maj. Gen. Alphonsus Crucero, 3rd Infantry Division commanding general, is expected to officiate at the turnover of 303rd IB command between Fojas and Jalandoni on March 20 in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia.

Jalandoni also used to serve as the 3rd ID chief of staff and later as commanding officer of the 604th Infantry Brigade stationed in Sultan Kudarat in Maguindanao.

Military records also show that under the leadership of Jalandoni the 604th Infantry Brigade was responsible for the neutralization of three leaders of notorious kidnapping for ransom groups in Maguindanao and neighboring provinces last year.*GPB
