The National Food Authority in Negros Occidental
has allocated P26 million to start its sugar procurement operations
this week in line with President Arroyo's order for NFA to intervene
to provide consumers access to reasonably priced sugar, its provincial
manager Gil Ibarra said yesterday.
The NFA will procure "B-2" sugar allocated by the
Sugar Regulatory Administration at a price of P950 per LKG starting
this week until the end of March, he said.
B2 represents one half percent of the country's
sugar production. 


IT Team braces for entry
of third call center
American company Focus Communications will open
its call center in Bacolod City within the year, its first in
the Philippines, Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, chairperson of
the Bacolod IT Focus Team, said yesterday.
Batapa-Sigue said the Ogden, Utah-based company
does not have a registered business name in the Philippines yet
but it is already preparing to list-up with the Securities and
Exchange Commission.
It will have a start-up operations of 250 seats
and will occupy the Ceferina Building at Lacson Street that will
be turned into Monfort IT Centre.

to hold sugar
farm mng't training
The Sugar Regulatory Administration will conduct
a Sugarcane Farm Management Training for 50 selected members of
Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation Inc. on March 20 to 22 at
the Balay OPSI at SRA La Granja in La Carlota City, a press release
from SRA said.
The training, which is under the Outreach Program
for the Sugar Industry, will be attended by micro crop personnel
and agrarian reform beneficiaries, it said.
SRA Administrator James Ledesma will be the guest
speaker while the technical staff of the Research and Extension
Services Department and the Industrial Research and Development
Office of the SRA regional office will be the resource persons,
the press release said.
