PENRO, MGB get funds

The Negros Occidental government, through the Provincial Environment Management Office, is set to release funds to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for the conduct of a training-workshop and a resource inventory, a PEMO press release said.

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office and the Mines and Geo-Sciences Bureau will receive P267,040 and P324,500, respectively for the holding of the Participatory Coastal Resource Assessment Training Workshop and the Regional Geohazard Mapping and Resource Inventory.

The training-workshop will be for 289 participants from the towns of Valladolid, Hinigaran, Binalbagan, Cauayan, Manapla, Toboso and Calatrava.

Meanwhile, the resource inventory will cover the Bacolod City-Don Salvador Benedicto-San Carlos City-transcendental highway. It aims to provide concerned local governments with thematic maps which can be used to formulate measures to reduce the impacts of geohazards, the press release said.*
