Strict implementation of rules
on traffic results in revenue rise
The Land Transportation Office in Bacolod City has
collected P4.6 million in revenue collections from apprehensions
in 2005, which is 27.45 percent higher than its P3.6 million collection
in 2004.
This shows that the LTO is not sleeping but is
strictly implementing traffic rules and able to impose penalties
to erring drivers and operators, Antonio Norman Saril, Transportation
Regulatory Officer of the LTO-Bacolod told the DAILY STAR yesterday.
Saril said the increase is due to their intensified
campaign against traffic violators in the city.
A report obtained by the DAILY STAR yesterday
showed the LTO district offices in the region has a total of 21.6
million revenue collection from law enforcement in 2005, which increased
by P4.5 million or 26.64 percent over their collection in 2004.
The Operations Division (Iloilo City) has collected
7.2 million in 2005, which increased by 28.05 percent from its 2004
collection of 5.6 million.
The following are the amount of revenue collection
from apprehension by the LTO districts in 2005, Cadiz City - 1.5
million; Roxas City - P987, 975; Barotac Viejo Extentsion Office
- P912,011; Pontevedra Extension Office - P902,040; Himamaylan -
P893,195; San Jose, Antique - 821, 345; Kalibo, Aklan - P797,975;
Silay Extension Office - P610, 635; San Carlos City - 549,875; Guimaras
Extension Office - P545,974.95; Passi City Extension Office - P442,600;
Dumalag Extension Office - P302,208; Calinog - P271, 017.50 and
Guimbal Extension Office - P213,715, LTO records showed.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental has registered 112,785
motor vehicles in 2005, which increased by 7.18 percent from the
2004 records of 105,227.
As shown in the Comparative Statistics on Motor
Vehicles registered by province, the Negros Occidental was followed
by Iloilo - 81,208; Capiz - 33,410; Aklan - 28,586; Antique - 13,621
and Guimaras - 3,857, records showed.
The LTO-Bacolod has apprehended 18,342 drivers
and impounded 124 vehicles in 2005. It also handled 18,466 apprehension
cases, which decreased by 11.03 percent from the number of apprehension
cases handled in 2004.
Records showed that Negros Occidental has issued
83,986 driver's licenses and permits in 2005 , followed by Iloilo
- 70,387; Capiz - 19,321; Aklan - 17,699; Antique - 11,644 and Guimaras
- 2, 991.
In 2005, the LTO-Bacolod has also registered a
total of 52,253 motor vehicles such as cars - 9,318, utility vehicles
- 19,306, Sports Utility Vehicle - 1,451, trucks - 7,037, buses
- 112, mc/tc - 14,737 and trailers - 292, records also showed.*DMG
