City's good trading potential
attracts new insurance firm

REGIONAL MANAGER SAYS

Generali Pilipinas has chosen Bacolod City as its first expansion site in the Visayas because the company believes that there is good business potential in the city, GP Visayas regional manager BJ Legaspi yesterday said.

Generali Pilipinas, an Italian-based insurance firm, opened its Bacolod Sales Office yesterday at Robinsons Metro-Bacolod in Araneta Street, Bacolod City.

Legaspi said their company also plans to put up sales offices in Iloilo and Tacloban in the coming months or years. He said they have chosen Bacolod City as their first expansion site because they see a new generation of businesses here, as well as, entrepreneurs who are already successful in the industry.

'Go for long-term
investments, savings'

Visiting insurance company executives yesterday said Filipinos should go for long-term investments to get more from their hard-earned money.

Melvin Esteban, PhilamLife vice president for segments marketing division, said that since most Filipinos prefer to invest on a short-term basis like time deposits for merely a month, they are advocating for investments on a long-term that would provide their clients more investment options and competitive rates of return. At a press conference at the Business Inn yesterday, Philam Life officials, led by their president and chief executive officer, Jose Cuisia Jr., introduced the AIG Money Tree and Milestones, two new long-term investment and savings products positioned to answer the changing insurance needs of their market.

Bill seen to bring reforms
in land administration

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources said the passage on third and final reading of the Land Administration Reform bill will pave the way for institutional reforms in land administration.

Approved on the last week of February, House Bill 4846 seeks to finally do away with inefficiencies in land transactions arising from multiple agencies, land laws, and land titling processes, a DENR statement said.

Under the bill, all government agencies handling land transactions will be integrated into a single and autonomous agency to be known as the Land Administration Authority, the DENR said.
