Engineers set pace in
Capitol cagefest

The Provincial Engineer's Office drubbed OPA-PEMO, 88-75, to register its third consecutive victory in the 1st Provincial Alliance of Capitol Employees Basketball Cup at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Gym in Bacolod City recently.

PEO is sitting at the top with a 3-0 win-loss card, while running second is the Provincial Assessor's Office after nipping Capitol Building, 71-66, in the first game to post its second triumph in three games.

Spearheading the attack of PAO was Marvin Balajadia, who emerged as the best player of the game, as he poured in 21 points. Pacing Capitol Building's offense was Toto Torre as he canned 18 points, while Bong-bong Fernandez chipped in 10 markers. Ruben Diamante anchored the charge of PEO with 18 points as Fox Rodriguez contributed 15 markers. Victor Llasos shot 25 points to power OPA-PEMO, while Jimbo Carsula registered 16 points.

Rounding up the team standings in the double round robin eliminations tournament are EEDD (1-1), OPA-PEMO (1-1), Capitol Building (1-3) and General Services Office (0-2). Tournament coordinator Marilou Boribor said the top four squads after the eliminations will advance to the semifinals, while the winners in the semifinal round will battle for the crown in a best-of-three championship series. *CIT
