UNO-R students,
groups get awards

Eleven students of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City were conferred the Outstanding Student Leader awards at the Recognition of Scholars sponsored by the UNO-R Scholarships Office, Saturday, a press release from UNO-R said.

The awardees are Jan Rex Santillana, Ma. Kristina Alpon, Welyn Libo-on, Marisal Belle Perido, Zenny Villasis, Jeralyn Pasinabo, Syl Alinsoring, Christopher Catubig, Andy Mark Pahilanga, Ivan Catalan and Teodoro Arellano. The award was given through Scholarships Office head Nilda Jamili.

Also given certificates of appreciation for their services to the University and the Campus Organization Federation were seven campus organizations; which are the Alpha Phi Omega International Philippines Inc., Association of Children of Mary, Beta Sigma Fraternity, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers-Student Chapter, Student Catholic Action of the Philippines, Tau Omega Mu Fraternity and Ladies' Circle, and the College Red Cross Youth - UNO-R Council, which was adjudged the most outstanding campus organization, the press release said.

Service awards were also given to the president of the UNO-R Supreme Student Government and governors of the different Colleges, Junry Pasinabo, Stella Marie Victoriano, Marlon Jeruta, Pia Magdalera, Rogelio Montaņom, Kenneth Nene, Verniza Therese Mainar and Charby Tasic, the press release added.*

CAPGEM to sponsor
Allan K concert

The Capitol Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative of the Negros Occidental government will sponsor a concert called "Allan K - in Concert and Laughter" at 7:30 p.m. on March 24, at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center in Bacolod City, a capitol press release said yesterday.

The concert will star Negrense comedian-singer, Allan K, a regular member of the cast of the noontime television show Eat Bulaga.

A Bacolod-based all male group "Kulai" will perform the front act, the press release said. Proceeds of the concert will go to the CAPGEM Youth Movement, which is composed of children of Capitol employees.

The show is open to the public with tickets priced at P100 and P200 that are now available at the CAPGEM office and in various outlets.

PSME-Negros sets seminar

A seminar on "Proper Selection of Valves with Respect to Process and Application" will be conducted by the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers-Negros Occidental Chapter, from 1 to 4 p.m. on March 17, at the Bacolod Executive Inn, in Bacolod City, a press release from the group said yesterday.

Resource speaker will be Fred Gelverio, director of the Spectrum Scientific Corporation, sponsor of the seminar, it also said.

Registration fee is P200 inclusive of snacks, hand-outs, and certificate of attendance.

Kerwin Lopez, chairman of the Seminars and Continuing Education committee and chapter president of the PSME-Negros, announced that all mechanical engineers are invited to attend the seminar, the press release said.
