Policemen take
refresher course
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Investigators and personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency throughout the Oriental Negros took a refresher course to enhance their skills in enforcing provisions of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Saturday.

The Anti-Drug Operation and Investigation Enhancement Seminar was participated in by policemen assigned in the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, National Bureau of Investigation and Maritime Command who compose the Task Force 24.

It was held at the Plaza Maria Luisa in Dumaguete City. Police provincial director, S/Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe encouraged the participants to develop strong and principled character, nurture good judgment and be articulate at all times.

Problems in enforcing provisions of the law were tackled by city and provincial prosecutors, including the Regional Trial Court Branch 30, the heinous drugs court with presiding Judge Rafael Crescencio Tan Jr., and RTC Executive Judge Rosendo Bandal Jr.

Participants were also told to observe correct processes in conducting searches, inventories and filing of cases to avoid dismissal of charges due to technicalities.

Other resource speakers at the seminar were Assistant Prosecutors Eliezer Escorial and Joseph Elmaco, Judge Orlando Velasco of RTC Branch 63, Fernando Martinez of the Drug Abuse Prevention Council, PDEA Region 7 regional director P/Supt. Amado Marquez, and lawyer Paul Oaminal.*JG
