70 bouts in Pta. Taytay
amateur boxing event

About 70 bouts will be showcased in the "Tinapungulay Sa Punta Taytay" that kicks off at 2 p.m. today at the Barangay Punta Taytay Multi-Purpose Gym in Bacolod City.

Boxers from barangays Punta Taytay, Handumanan, 35, Pahanocoy, Alijis, Granada, 15 and Sum-ag will slug it out in the inter-barangay amateur boxing tournament that is coordinated by Cesar Gamboa, Sr.

The pugilists in the kids division will vie for the crowns in the 24-kilogram, 25-kg, 26-kg, 30-kg and 34-kg, while the competitors in the youth category will be jousting for the titles in the 36-kg, 39-kg, 42-kg and 45-kg classes. Special bouts for gays are also calendared in the tournament that will end on Thursday.

Gamboa, who is also a national referee, will be among the judges of the boxing competitions as well as national referees Arnaldo Quiatchon of Brgy. Alijis, Bert Alison of Bago City, Ferdinand Donoso of Brgy. Handumanan and Gerson Nietes of Brgy. Granada. *CIT
