API, city conduct
medical mission

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Hundreds of Dumaguete residents availed of free check-ups and medicines at the medical mission conducted yesterday by the Alliance for Peace and Improvement in coordination with the City Disaster Coordinating Council and the Bureau of Fire Protection, at the Quezon Park, in the city.

Jane Padua Bravo, API vice president and special events director for the Visayas, said the activity is being undertaken all over the country in coordination with local government units.

Helping the doctors were members of a radio group, City Disaster Coordinating Council personnel and operatives of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The BFP said they are helping in the mission as part of their observance of the Fire Prevention Month. It said that it does not only respond to fires and calamities, as a medical team from its Region 7 office headed by Sr./Insp. Marie Grace Villaruel brought their equipment and personnel to Dumaguete to join the event.

City fire marshal C/Insp. Ranulfo Sayson and provincial fire chief C/Insp. Victor Vivares said the bureau had solicited the medicines and anesthetics used in its operations.

Other members of the medical team were Insp. Vilma Abarquez and FO1 Hazel Maria Bering - dentists, FO1 Sharon Yap - nurse, and FO2 Rene Cuerpo - aide.*JG
