Alijis eyeing takeover of
unused southbound terminal

The Barangay Alijis Council is proposing to take over the operation of the facilities of the South terminal and market which has remained a white elephant for several years.

Bacolod City Administrator Lorendo Dilag yesterday said that Alijis Barangay Captain Pepito Malapitan wrote him about the proposal and he has endorsed the letter to the City Legal Office for opinion.

He said Malapitan has proposed the transfer of the "bagsakan" of vegetables and fruits at the Libertad Market to the Southbound terminal and market in Brgy. Alijis. The president of the Libertad Market Vendor's Association, Efren Mangalos, is in favor of the idea because it will help decongest traffic at the Libertad Market, he said.

Dilag said he favorably endorsed the proposal of Malapitan to Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Meanwhile, Dilag said the Market Committee, which he heads, will meet on Monday to finalize the guidelines for the occupancy of the Vendor's Plaza at the Reclamation Area.*CGS
