Top officials tackle fate
of WNC nursing grads
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Top officials of West Negros College, the Professional Regulation Commission, Board of Nursing and the Commission on Higher Education met for three hours in Manila yesterday to discuss the fate of WNC nursing graduates facing BON administrative charges for alleged course overloading.

Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella said he arranged the meeting to try to get all the parties concerned to come up with a win-win solution.

Present at the hearing were PRC head Leonor Rosero, BON chair Eufemia Octaviano, and CHED head Carlito Puno, Puentevella said.

"Parameters were set and another meeting is scheduled early next week, I hope a win-win solution can be reached then," he said.

The PRC and BON had earlier withheld the release of the December board examination results of 599 WNC nursing graduates, but agreed to their release at a House budget hearing.

On March 2 the BON said of the 599 awaiting their results, 476 passed.

While the BON released the exam results, however, it filed administrative charges against the WNC nursing graduates for course overloading and said it would not release their licenses until the cases are resolved.*CPG
