The Negros Occidental Football Association will hold a boys'
15-Under tryout camp on April 1 at the FIFA-NOFA Regional Football
Training Center in Bago City with the top booters gaining slots
to tryout for the Philippine 15-Under Team.
The 15-Under players from the Victorias City Football Club,
Bago City FC, Ma-ao United FC, Bacolod City, FC de Pontevedra and
San Carlos City FC will showcase their skills during the camp to
have the chance of qualifying for the national team, NOFA deputy
general-secretary Warren Concepcion said.
The provincial camp qualifiers will tryout for the Philippine
15-Under Team on April 17 also at the FNRFTC in Bago City.
The 15-Under booters who will be selected during the national
camp to don the colors of the Philippines will represent the country
in a tournament in Malaysia, Concepcion said.
He said the schedule and name of the Malaysia-based tournament
has yet to be finalized, but certainly it will materialize within
the year.
NOFA hopes that a number of players from Negros, which is
considered as a football power in the country, will be chosen to
banner the national squad, he added.
Meanwhile, NOFA will also hold a 17-Under ladies' tryout on
April 8 to form a squad for the national football championships
in San Carlos City.
Lady booters who will tryout to qualify for the NOFA team
in the national tilt will come from FC de Pontevedra, Ma-ao United
FC, University of St. La Salle, San Carlos City FC and Talisay City
FC, Concepcion said.
The Philippine Football Federation 17-Under Ladies' Football
Championships will be stage from May 7 to 12 in San Carlos City.
NOFA will also hold 15 and 17-Under Inter-Club Provincial
Football Championships that kick off April 7 in Negros Occidental.
Sixteen teams will compete in the 15-Under category, while 12
squads will vie for the 17-Under crown, adding that Red Ribbon is
also supporting the 15-Under hostilities. *CIT
